Window tinting Window tinting ↗

Can I have my front two door windows tinted?

On cars first used from 1 April 1985, front side windows must let at least 70% of light through and the windscreen at least 75%. There are no limits for rear side windows or the rear screen. Factory glass already has a slight tint, so there is little room on the fronts. Contact us and we will tell you what is possible on your car.

Does the film affect my rear window defroster lines?

No. The film does not affect the heating element, so the heated rear screen works as normal.

Is the rear window fitted in one piece?

Yes. Each rear window gets a single piece of film, heat shrunk and fitted by our installers.

How long before I can use my windows?

Leave them closed for 48 to 72 hours so the film can dry to the glass and the adhesive can cure. Drying takes noticeably longer in winter than in summer.

What can I clean tinted windows with?

After the first 48 to 72 hours, any non-abrasive, ammonia-free glass cleaner. A soft microfibre cloth is best.

Does the film bubble up over time?

No. We use high-quality SunTek films imported from the USA, with adhesives designed to handle extreme temperatures. Bubbling is caused by poor-quality adhesive and film breaking down.

Can the film be removed when I sell or return the car?

Yes. Film can be removed safely and cleanly without damaging the glass, returning the car to how it was.

Is chameleon tint legal?

It follows the same rules as any tint. On cars first used from 1 April 1985, front side windows must let at least 70% of light through and the windscreen at least 75%. There are no limits for rear side windows or the rear screen. Each chameleon film has a different light transmission, so tell us where you want it and we will advise which films are suitable.

Vehicle wrapping Vehicle wrapping ↗

What is the difference between a full wrap and a partial wrap?

A full wrap covers the whole vehicle except the windows. A partial wrap covers only some areas, such as a roof and bonnet, or the rear doors and side panels of a van carrying an advert.

How long does a car wrap last?

Wraps are temporary by design. Most vinyl lasts about five years.

Will the vinyl damage my paintwork?

Not if the paintwork is in good condition when the wrap is applied.

Will a wrap cover rust, chips and scuffs?

No. The vinyl is very thin, so chips, key lines, rust and poor paintwork will show through.

Is a vehicle wrap easy to remove?

It takes time, because the vinyl has to withstand weather and road wear, and the longer it has been on the longer removal takes. Removal should not damage paint that was in good condition when the wrap went on. We cannot guarantee the quality of factory paint, so we accept no responsibility for paint damage after removal.

How does the vinyl stay on? Is it glued?

The vinyl comes on a roll with a peel-off backing, much like a sticker. The adhesive side bonds to the panel for a smooth finish.

Why a wrap and not a respray?

A wrap is a short-term colour change and a respray is permanent. You can remove a wrap and sell the car in its original colour.

Can I wrap individual parts of my vehicle?

Yes. Bonnets and roofs are popular choices for a customised look.

How soon after a respray can you wrap a car?

Wait at least 12 months after a respray before applying a wrap.

Will a wrap affect my insurance premium?

That depends on your insurer and whether it treats a wrap as a modification. Check with them first.

Do I need to tell the DVLA about a colour-change wrap?

Yes. It is a legal requirement to tell the DVLA about a colour change by updating your registration certificate (V5C).

Paint protection film Paint protection film ↗

What does paint protection film protect against?

It helps shield paintwork from stones, insects and other road debris, and forms a barrier against water and dirt.

Will I be able to see the film?

SunTek PPF Ultra has a clear finish and optical clarity that make it nearly impossible to detect once installed.

Does PPF really heal itself?

Minor scratches in the film repair themselves using heat from the engine or the sun.

Where on the car is PPF applied?

Most often the bumper, bonnet, wheel arches, door edges, handles and lights. These are the areas that take the most damage.

Can I wax a car with PPF?

Yes. The film looks like paint and you can wax it in the same way.

How long is the warranty?

SunTek PPF Ultra carries a manufacturer's 10-year limited warranty against cracking, bubbling or yellowing when professionally sold and installed.

Lights and styling Light tinting ↗

Will tinted lights pass an MOT?

Lights still have to show the correct colour and be bright enough. We carry out light tinting with MOT compliance in mind and will tell you before we start if the finish you want would put a pass at risk.

How many starlights can I have?

You choose. We fit up to 1,000 lights in a roof lining.

Will embroidery damage my original headrests?

No. The design is embroidered onto a cover that matches your seat fabric. Your original headrests are not damaged and you can switch back at any time.

Which bodykit brands do you fit?

We are approved installers for Maxton Design, CT Carbon and Fast Lane Auto Styling.
